Connor, Take the Wheel!

Today on Dora the Explorer, Dora and her pals made a very clear point that they were wearing their seatbelts in order to be SAFE. That's great! Thank you, Nick Jr., for reinforcing that important idea with my children. Then five-year-old Dora, her weird monkey sidekick and a Spanish-speaking mole(?) piloted their airplane to the top of a mountain. Hmmm.

Oh Dora, she is quit the gal in our house right now. What is up with that mole thing anyway!

I'd like to know what kind of parents let their kid run around the jungle all day, unsupervised with a moon-boot-wearing monkey. The monkey is smart enough to speak english and he's wearing snow boots in the jungle. What is up with that?

The girl is so clueless: she gets herself into trouble about every 90 seconds and then asks my 3-year-old daughters to bail her out by yelling in Spanish at the top of their lungs. Maybe I'll try that in a staff meeting sometime soon.

Yeah,
Dora is a big one in our home. She overtook the Wiggles.

I'm pretty sure moles speak Esperanto, not Spanish. Clearly the producers of the show are not committed to authenticity.

Douglas loves Dora, as well. The thing that gets me is her inflection. Just try to mimick her voice. Anyone can do it if they speak loudly and try to over-emphasize ever sentence. I find myself doing it unconsciously when I read Dora stories. Kids at my age are to impressionable to media influences. ;)
