Road Trip

I have spent the morning plotting a potential road trip out on Google Maps for my sabbatical this year. It's been fun to think of the friends, family, and sites we could visit along the way. Now if we can find a spot on the calendar in which to fit the trip, we'll be on our way!

That's quite the loop! Google says you can make it in about 2 days and 23 hours...no stops anyone? :) I hope you find a good place on the calendar (that's longer than three days...)!

I'm glad you are doing this. More and more ministers are taking sabbaticals although usually in the newer churches. Traditional churches tend not to do this as well. One elder was telling me he pushed for their minister to get a sabbatical. It is difficult living in a country that takes an average of 2-3 days per year for vacation, and trying to encourage ministers to take extended leave. In fact most people in America need to take more time off with their families. In one of my classes at George Fox Seminary of the 45 students I had (all were in ministry) 75% weren't taking regular days off. We devoted a class just to that issue.

Kudos for you and PUMP doing this. I hope it sets a trend that will support and nurture those entering ministry with you all.

Another thing you might consider. The ministers in this area who return from sabbatical come back committed to taking more days off for their families. You will really enjoy this time.

Well, hot dog! The Springs is on the map! Assuming that I'm still living here, I'll look forward to seeing you.

Yeay! I see ABQ on there! We would love it if you guys came and stayed with us! A sabbatical is a wonderful blessing. Like you, we used ours to travel together and reconnect with friends and family. It was a lot of fun! Casa de Russell is happy to book complimentary reservations for White, party of 5!
