Confessions of a Criminal

It has finally happened. My perfect record is now blemished - never to be snow white again. In the mail today I...[gulp] received my first speeding ticket. There's no denying it. The city of Beaverton took three nice photos of my car, with my lovely smile gleaming through the windshield "She mocks our laws!" they grimace from behind the safety of their shiny black van. Although I clearly showed disregard for the laws of Beaverton, Oregon, it feels a little like they cheated. When an officer pulls my car over and has to look me in the eye before writing anything in that little notepad, I have a glimmer of hope - hope that my loveliness and charm will win over the man or woman in blue. Then I can, once again, drive away having given a polite "yes, officer, of course I'll be more careful - thank you" while tossing my written warning into the back seat. But now my 47 mile an hour in a 35 zone joy ride is complete. I pay dearly for my recklessness.

Bless you. "They" are video taping/photographing the roads and drivers now? That feels eerie to me.

Oh no!
I agree, these cameras take our small chance of talking our way out away from us.

Beaverton was never my favorite anyway.

It happens to us all. I think I would rather get the ticket in the mail than go through the emotional stress of getting pulled over. I'm not good at talking my way out of things.

Cheryl, have you seen google maps new street view? You can totally see in the window of our house, clear as day. A little eerie, indeed!

I guess Conor was not in the backseat making sure you were following the laws of the land.

You owe it the community of blog to post the pictures. It is the path to true repentance!

Boy, that just ruins your whole day when those little goodies arrive in the mail. Rest assured, I am much more nice about it if the ticket comes with my picture on it rather than Billy's! I am always paranoid now about camara controlled intersections (not so much the other ones)

Mine was a kid on a motorcycle with so much uniform and helmet that I could barely see a human inside. "You've never had a speeding ticket in 59 years of driving, including a million miles of truck driving? Take our class and I will petition to have your ticket excused." The court clerk said, "Why did you take the all day class?" I responded, "Because someone in your office said that's the one I had to take." The Judge said, "You took the long class? That is impressive. Case dismissed!"

And so dear daughter, that is why your old dad still has a clean record.
